About Event

Join us as we welcome Ren Grabert (they/them) for Sex, Drugs, and Side Effects: What Your Doctor Didn't Tell You About Your Meds and Sex on Thursday, May 20th from 8:00 to 10:00PM EST over Zoom!

This workshop will be recorded and will be made available for a limited time to everyone who registers.

Sexual side effects are common amongst many types of prescription medications, and can have a significant impact on a person’s sexual health, relationships, and quality of life. These sexual side effects can impact people of any gender and can range anywhere from lowered libido to physical pain. Despite their pervasiveness, sexual side effects often aren’t effectively communicated to patients through written pamphlets or discussions with healthcare providers. In this workshop Sex Educator, Ren Grabert M.Ed, will cover common sexual side effects of medications, ways to cope with them, and how to navigate conversations about sexual side effects with healthcare providers. Attendees will have the opportunity to compile notes through a writing activity that will help them communicate their concerns with their healthcare provider, and practice initiating a discussion about sexual side effects so they feel confident having this conversation at their next healthcare appointment.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe common effects medications have on libido and sexual function.

  • Identify ways to enhance sexual pleasure when you can’t or don’t want to stop taking a medication with sexual side effects.

  • Navigate conversations about sexual side effects of medications with healthcare providers.
