About Event

Join us as we welcome Cheylsea Federle (she/her) and Mia Matias (she/her) for Sex During a Pandemic: Things Your Sex Ed Teacher Definitely Didn't Prepare You For on Thursday, April 1st from 7:00 to 9:00PM EST over Zoom!

This workshop will be recorded and will be made available for a limited time to everyone who registers.

None of us were prepared to face a pandemic in March 2020. Many of us may still be feeling unprepared and uncertain about the future especially as it relates to our relationships with others. Whether you are in a long-term relationship, a new relationship, dating, or single this workshop will provide you with the tools to keep or create a fulfilling dating and sex life while being risk aware!

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the effect that stress has on desire, arousal and libido.

  • Learn to navigate risks and establish boundaries related to COVID-19 in relationships.

  • Gain tools in building and maintaining relationships while physically distanced in person and online.

About Cheylsea Federle

Cheylsea Federle’s (she/her) personal and professional pedagogy is ‘helping others to help themselves’ which is to say that she hopes to provide education and resources to allow people to make educated, personal choices about their health and sexuality! Cheylsea is a sexuality educator and currently the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator at Wheaton College where she works, not only, to prevent sexual violence but provide resources and support to survivors when violence does occur. With a Master of Arts Degree in Gender Studies, and a certificate in Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocacy Cheylsea takes a trauma-informed and feminist approach in all that she does.

About Mia Matias

Mia Matias’ (she/her) is an active doula, trained through Carriage House Birth, a mother of two and an aspiring sex educator. Her enthusiasm for sex education stems from her professional experience working with birthing and postpartum parents, and her personal journey as a mother. Where Mia is most passionate, is in teaching parents how to take a sex positive, and inclusive approach when discussing sexuality, bodies, and relationships with their children. She believes there is a real need for parents to have outlets to access further information and tools to have these important conversations with their children. Mia’s experience as a birth doula has also uncovered a sense of care and admiration for birthing and postpartum bodies and she is zealous about inclusivity in birth, reproductive justice, and education about sex and pleasure postpartum.
