About Event

Talking about death and dying is this taboo subject that "should" be avoided in our culture. Hence, we have become death illiterate - we don't know how to talk about. When death and dying hits us personally (even professionally) we don't know what to expect, what we should do, or how to handle it. I have seen this with the hundreds of patients and loved ones that I have served in my career.

AND I SEE A SHIFT HAPPENING! People don't want to be in the dark any more as they understand this only hurts us and those we love the most.

This workshop is for people who want to better understand death and dying, who want to be prepared, and who want to start processing their mortality and how that influences one to live more fully.

I want to be as transparent as possible as I know it takes courage to do this. I want you to know exactly what to expect at this event. I will guide you through a mindfulness exercise that puts you in the mindset of what your own end-of-life experience could look like from diagnosis to your last breath. Education on common experiences are woven through to give an understanding of what many people go through. After the exercise if over we will spend time processing what that was like and address any questions you may have. I get some people like to speak up in a crowd and other are more shy. I promise not to pull the crap my high school teacher did where I call on you and make you feel uncomfortable. Your presence is enough.

While this is hosted at a Brewery, I want to make it perfectly clear that whether you sip on one of Day Blocks brews or enjoy a delicious non-alcoholic beverage, all are welcomed with open arms. This location was chosen to welcome those that feel more comfortable outside of a clinical setting. Day Block has been so generous to give of this space.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER*** This is not a support group to process previous losses and grief. If you are looking for that type of support, please check out the resources I have on my website www.ABetterEnding.org/resources. If you are struggling with grief and loss, mental health, or suicidal ideation, I do not believe this is the appropriate space for you with all that your are holding. As a LICSW, I was very thoughtful when creating this event, while it can be triggering for individuals who are struggling. If you or a loved one is at risk of suicide, PLEASE call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or Text MN to 741741
