About Event

Please join author Laura Kalbag, Guild host Lija Hogan, and other UX researchers for a fireside chat about the latest in accessibility and inclusive design topics. With the launch of WCAG 2.2 in late 2023 and an increased focus on supporting vulnerable populations driven by new regulations enforced by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK, many organizations have been actively at work to ensure digital experiences and products enable everyone to navigate the world successfully. We'll use her recent book, “Accessibility for Everyone” from A Book Apart as a reference and starting point.

Laura Kalbag is a British designer living in Ireland who has worked professionally in the tech industry for nearly 15 years. As someone interested in the entire user experience, she uses writing, speaking and web development to support her work, with a particular focus on accessibility and privacy. Laura’s book, Accessibility For Everyone, was published by A Book Apart in 2017, and she has given over 100 talks at events worldwide.

Since 2021, Laura has been working with Stately, a team creating a suite of visual tools for building app logic, leading their education, advocacy and community efforts. Laura is also the co-founder of Small Technology Foundation, a tiny not-for-profit organization working on initiatives to advocate for and build small technology designed to increase human welfare.
