About Event

I am having an open house party and you’re invited!

Why am I doing this: To remind myself that I have community, to bring together people from all different parts of my life (because I love being a convener and connecting folks), and to bring some joy to the most miserable time of year. Bonus: we’ll be a few days into the Hebrew month of Adar, which is the month that is said to multiply our joy. Yay more joy!

Who’s invited:

You! My awesome neighbours, old friends, new friends, kink friends, vanilla friends, pottery classmates, family friends, chosen/family members, partners, and even some of your friends, family and partners I’ve never met! I am proud to know folks with radically different perspectives on all sorts of things! Let’s hang out and remind ourselves of the wonders of community in my magical red tent home. I am not planning any facilitated anything! We can just schmooze and relax and connect with interesting and wonderful people.

You’re welcome to bring your awesome people. Check with me if your group is more than 3 people.

More info:

This event is inspired by the annual February open house parties my parents hosted when I was growing up. I remember them as boisterous (for us kids) and a breath of fresh air.

It’s potluck and BYOB and you’re welcome to come empty-handed if you just need a cozy, no pressure place to land for a few hours. Come and go anytime between 3pm and late.

Kids are welcome between 3-6pm.

I have no requirements about COVID precautions. Please take care of yourself and do what makes you feel safe and comfortable. Please don't come if you have any symptoms of illness. **If I have symptoms, this event will be rescheduled and those who’ve RSVP’ed will receive emails with updates.

What’s the space like:

The apartment is a spacious 2-bedroom with a balcony. The living/dining area and one bedroom will be available for hanging out (bedroom will be a quieter zone) and (between 3-6) kids can play in my kiddo’s room with her while grownups get to relax and be social with other grownups.

If it’s crowded, windows will be open for air flow.

No smoking is permitted anywhere in my apartment or on the balcony. Smokers are welcome to smoke outside the building.

Getting here:

My home is less than a 5-minute walk from the Heath st exit of St. Clair W station. There is Green P street parking for $1/hr with a 4-hr limit and there’s a visitor lot on the north side of my building with a few spots usually available for $1/hr and free after 4 hours.

Accessibility notes:

The apartment is on the 3rd floor. There is elevator access. Building doors are manual and a bit heavy. The bathroom is too small for a wheelchair but can accommodate a walker. Lighting will be kept relatively low. There will likely be music playing in the background on a small speaker.

I have no pets.

If you have other specific accessibility needs, please let me know.

I can’t wait to hang out with you!
