​About the Speakers

​Ben Jones, Former CEO, Skipcart

​Ben is a serial entrepreneur who has found his passion in the tech industry. He is the founder and CEO of on-demand delivery company Skipcart. His passion is being involved with the community, church, and various local organizations that help the tech community thrive. Ben raised a Series A funding and recently sold Skipcart to a fortune 50 company. He regularly serves as a speaker or expert panelist at trade shows and events that are around the transportation and logistics space.

​Dr. Amit Mehta, General Partner, Builders VC.

​Dr. Amit Mehta is an entrepreneur turned investor. As a highly-regarded practicing professional, Amit combines practical knowledge across the healthcare value-chain to help companies from seed through Series B. He is deeply interested in market validation of new technologies as well as successful strategies in go-to-market launches.

Dr. Mehta completed his residency at Harvard Medical School where he also completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Image Guided Surgery. Amit brings entrepreneurial and operational experience as the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Intrinsic Imaging, a leading Healthcare IT company/Imaging Contract Research Organization which operated clinical trials globally for both pharma and biotech sponsors and was recently acquired by WCG-Clinical.

​He has co-authored three textbooks in medicine, has widely published in peer-reviewed journals and currently is appointed as an SBIR/STTR reviewer for the National Institutes of Health. In addition to his clinical and operational pursuits, Amit is an avid traveller, farmer and a budding real estate mogul. He has been selected as one of the “Top 40 under 40″ by the San Antonio Business Journal.

​David Kestenbaum, General Partner of ZX Ventures

​David Kestenbaum is a founding member of ZX Ventures, the global innovation and corporate venture arm of AB InBev. Most recently, David led ZX’s venture capital fund as the General Partner, focusing on new and frontier market opportunities where AB InBev could add value as a strategic investor. In that role, David managed a ~$350 million portfolio that delivered top quartile returns and deployed capital towards new thesis areas like biotech and alternative protein. David sits on the board of 4 companies and is passionate about sustainability and the future of food. Previously, David led ZX Ventures innovation practice, developing their venture studio model and was part of the team within ZX that built a +$1 billion e-commerce business for AB InBev. Prior to ZX Ventures, David held various roles in AB InBev’s sales and marketing organizations, both in the U.S. and at their global headquarters. David’s formal education is in business and finance, and he spent several years before joining AB InBev in more traditional finance roles.

​Dr. Qasim Butt, Advisor & Consultant, Alio

​Dr. Qasim Butt is a highly skilled and well rounded physician that is seeking opportunities in innovative companies. He has had a long career of both clinical nephrology and interventional nephrology able to handle all issues related to dialysis access (fistulas, graft, catheters, etc.). He is board certified by the ABIM in both internal medicine and nephrology.

He has recently completed the MIT course in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and currently has advisory roles in three innovative health care start ups.

Dr. Butt goes above and beyond his clinical responsibilities, as a physician leader serving the community. He has had numerous leadership roles, including previous Chief of Medicine of Metropolitan Methodist Hospital and previous Treasurer of Board at the Texas Kidney Foundation. In 2020 and 2021 he received the Texas Rising Stars Doctors Award by Texas Monthly Magazine.

He is also highly versed in value based medicine in kidney care. Has been asked to speak and present about Medicare's new Kidney Care models to University Transplant Grand Rounds and CardioRenal Connections Conference both hosted by UT Health San Antonio.

Dr. Butt is also very passionate about not only raising awareness of kidney disease, but also the epidemic of poor health in our nation. He has for many years, volunteered for health screenings, fundraising walks and engages in public speaking events to the general public about kidney disease. He also has a professional Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram (@qasimbuttmd) and YouTube Channel (Your Kidneys Your Health) where he does fun, entertaining videos that breakdown health related topics in a simple way.
