TOP-TIER PERSPECTIVE ON ASCO AND BEYOND: HOW TO STAND OUT DURING CONCENTRATED NEWS MOMENTS
The annual American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting creates a high-stakes communications moment for many biopharma companies—one marked by a flood of clinical updates, milestone announcements, and investor expectations. With ~1,600 oncology medicines and vaccines in development, reporters face a deluge of data and story pitches.
This panel brings together journalists from WSJ, Forbes, and STAT to share how they assess the oncology landscape, select stories worth covering, and identify the trends that matter most. Learn how they find compelling angles in a crowded news cycle, what makes a source valuable, and how communicators can support impactful, accurate coverage.
Whether your company is oncology-focused or not, this session offers a behind-the-scenes look at how top-tier reporters approach deep therapeutic areas and how to stand out during one of healthcare’s most concentrated news moments.
Panel moderators:
Michael Fitzhugh, T2B Media Minds Roundtable Member and VP, Chief of Media Strategy, LifeSci Communications
Becky Vonsiatsky, T2B Media Minds Roundtable Chair and Practice Leader, Earned Media, Real Chemistry
Panelists:
Brianna Abbott, Health Reporter, The Wall Street Journal
Angus Chen, Cancer Reporter, STAT
