About Event

This event is hosted by Stanford Libraries in partnership with My China Roots.

Join Clotilde Yap as she provides a demo of My China Roots, the leading Chinese genealogy database for persons of Chinese heritage, available to Stanford students and faculty. The database features immigration records, Chinese exclusion files, family tree books (jiapu), tombstones, business directories, and other Chinese community records from North America to Southeast Asia. Participants will learn about key challenges in Chinese family history, what kind of resources are available on My China Roots, and how to search the database.

This session will be of interest to students of China and East Asia, Asian American and Ethnic Studies, Migration and Diaspora Studies, history and anthropology, as well as individuals interested in researching their Chinese family history.

My China Roots Library Edition is available on- and off-campus to all visitors, students and faculty. Visit SearchWorks catalog (stanford.edu) or go to mychinarootslibrary.com to start searching.
