About Event

Join us at Ireland House for a discussion on oceans, sustainability, technology, and opportunities for blue economy investments with Keynote Speaker, Dr. Deborah Brosnan.

Dr. Brosnan is a globally recognized marine scientist, environmental entrepreneur, and climate-risk expert. Her work spans worldwide, creating innovative solutions to environmental and climate risks that benefit ecosystems, businesses, communities, and governments. As the President and Founder of Deborah Brosnan & Associates, she operates at the intersection of risk, cutting-edge science, and real-world decision-making.

Dr. Brosnan’s extensive academic background includes her current role as an adjunct Professor of Biology at Virginia Tech University. She has held positions and fellowships at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, the University of California (Davis), the Smithsonian Institution, and the University of Washington. The event will be moderated by Breene Murphy, the president of Carbon Collective Investing, a climate focused investment advisor. They build low fee, diversified portfolios that divest from fossil fuels, and reinvest in climate solutions, and are available for individuals, employer 401(k)s and 403(b)s, and ETFs for institutional investors. Breene has served on the advisory board for USC's Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies and he directed an ocean ecoadventure series called the Seven Crossing's Project.

The fireside chat with Dr. Brosnan will be followed by a 10 minute presentation by Will O'Brien, the founder of Ulysses Ecosystem Engineering. Ulysses is a startup building autonomous robots for ocean ecosystem restoration. They can restore ecosystems like seagrass 100x faster, cheaper and at 100x the scale of traditional methods. They can also quantify the biodiversity improvements and carbon removal of restored seagrass meadows, bringing an added level of data to restoration. Their mission is to rewild the ocean to remove gigatons of carbon.
