Day 1: Knowledge Symposium - Presentation of Selected Abstract
Focus: Presentation of Selected Extended Abstracts - Open session
Audience: Students, early-career researchers, and the broader hydropower community

This first day is dedicated to the presentation and discussion of selected extended abstracts submitted through our open call. The symposium aims to foster rich knowledge exchange between students, early-career researchers, and senior experts, with a focus on identifying research gaps and outlining future directions in hydropower R&D.

🔔 Please note: All presentations must be delivered in person at NTNU in Trondheim. Remote presentations will not be possible.
We strongly encourage you to move beyond reporting on completed results. Instead, presentations should serve as a launchpad for highlighting what is missing in the field, and where future research is most needed. Abstracts will be selected based on their contribution to this forward-looking perspective.

Day 2: Joint Strategic Workshop - Pen@Hydropower and JP Hydropower
Focus: Joint planning between PEN@Hydropower and JP Hydropower - Closed session

Audience: Senior academics, key stakeholders, and invited experts

The second day will bring together invited participants from COST Action PEN@Hydropower and EERA JP Hydropower for a closed-door strategic workshop. The aim is to align long-term research priorities, explore potential joint initiatives, and define collaborative actions that enhance the impact of European hydropower research.

With a 10–15 year time horizon, the workshop will focus on identifying shared future research topics, which may form the basis for continued strategic discussions across platforms such as ETIP Hydropower and EERA.

Parallel Activity – Student Lab Tour at NTNU:
While the second day workshop is limited to senior participants, students and early-career researchers attending the event will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of NTNU’s hydropower labs and facilities.

Call for Applications

The call for extended abstract submissions will open on 16 June 2025 and close on 31 July 2025. Selected abstracts will be invited for presentation during Day 1.
