About Event

Have you ever wanted to make your own video game but wasn't sure where to start or how to find funding? Join us at Pariah Interactive to hear the tips and experiences of developing a video game from our speakers and moderator:

  • Andrew Garrahan: Andrew Garrahan is an independent game maker based in Brooklyn. His studio created the hit science game “Cell to Singularity”, about the evolution of life on earth, and the future of technology.

  • Kati Nawrock: Kati Nawrocki is a creative executive, founder, and consultant with fifteen years experience building and leading creative teams. She co-founded Computer Lunch after leaving her role as Studio Art Director at Dots, creators of the hit puzzle game, Two Dots. Before that, she led The Economist's commercial creative team as the Group's Global Creative Director.

  • Lawra Suits Clark: Lawra Suits Clark is a videogames artist, designer, and educator living in New York, and a co-founder of Babycastles Gallery, a 501c3 Non-Profit dedicated to showcasing contemporary independent videogames and other media by marginalized creators. Babycastles has been an internationally active volunteer run arts organization since 2009, playing host to a wide array of events, workshops, and exhibitions. Lawra's personal work involves climate fiction, absurdist futures, death positivity, ambient play, and game mechanic as poetic device. They are currently a Visiting Assistant Arts Professor for game design and development at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

  • Lillyan Ling: Lillyan Ling is an artist and producer making games, music, and other nonsense. She is interested in experimentation, twists on the traditional, memory spaces, the ordinary and unordinary, and collaborative community fun. Coming from a DIY music background, she has collaborated with Babycastles, Pariah Interactive, and Computer Lunch, as well as various artists. She primarily collaborates as 1/3rd of Common Opera, a videogame band that makes dense art games drawing on traditions of arcade, adventure, and RPG games.

  • Luna YiXi Wu (she/they): Luna YiXi Wu is a Game Designer and Developer based in Brooklyn, New York. They graduated from NYU Game Center with a BFA in 2022 and is now a Game and XR Developer at Pariah Interactive. Projects they have worked on at Pariah have been showcased at MoMA, Miami Super Blue, and the Tribeca Film Festival. Currently, they are immersed in a personal project—a text-based interactive experience—exploring the theme of censorship in art creation.

  • Prashast Thapan, Moderator: Prashast Thapan is an artist and game developer from New Delhi, India. He is the founder of Pariah Interactive, an independent game development studio based in New York and Mumbai.

Listen to our speakers, ask them some questions, and stick around to play some 1000 Deaths!

ABOUT THE STUDIO: Pariah Interactive is an independent games and XR development studio that creates surreal experiences about real life. Founded by Prashast Thapan in 2019, Pariah Interactive works with contemporary artists and organizations to transform often untold narratives, histories, and mythologies into digital immersive experiences for wider audiences. Pariah’s current in-house production is 1000 Deaths, a video game about confronting interpersonal conflicts and the effects of media on the human psyche.
