The Critical Role of Cities for CDR and the Dept. of Energy's new Voluntary CO2 Removal Purchasing Challenge
In the next 10 years, CO2 Removal projects must move rapidly to full commercial scale to meet climate goals in coming decades. To accelerate this, the U.S. Department of Energy is launching a new program this month called the Voluntary CO2 Removal Purchasing Challenge. The program will call on other organizations, including cities of all sizes, to commit to purchasing small and growing quantities of high-quality, permanent CO2 Removal credits.
Chris Neidl, co-founder of OpenAir Collective, and Christiaan Gevers Deynoot, co-author of XPRIZE's just-published report, "Pathways to Net-Zero Cities: The Role of Cities in Advancing Carbon Removal," will be our speakers.
