PRFAQ - Working Backwards Workshop (Beta)
[This is an experimental workshop for people to learn about the PRFAQ Framework/Working Backwards]
Are you struggling to create an inspiring vision for your startup or product? Is it hard to “pitch” your ideas to investors or get “buy-in” from stakeholders? Do you feel there is a gap in what you need to know before committing to the idea?
The PRFAQ Framework will help you increase your chances of success and build confidence if you should pursue an idea or not. It's a system invented by Amazon to discover, debate, and decide on a strategy and vision for a product, business, or any other type of innovation. It works for something new or to change something that already exists.
Who's the workshop for?
Pre-founders who are considering founding a startup
Early-stage founders who want to better articulate their story, align their team to deliver more faster, and to inspire action.
Product and program managers/leaders who want to deliver valuable and viable solutions.
Leaders and executives seeking better cohesion and strategic alignment across people and teams.
Inventors and researchers who are seeking funding, support, or commercialization for their projects.
PRFAQs are not marketing tools! This is not a marketing, public relations, or sales workshop.
What will you learn?
The PRFAQ Framework document.
Precise writing, including practice exercise.
Working Backwards to discover the right outcomes.
The PRFAQ Method: Discover, debate, and decide on a strategy and a vision.
At the end, you'll be able to write your own PRFAQ for your project. You will learn how to collaborate with others in the discovery, debate, and decision process to increase the chances of success.
Participants get:
Digital copy of The PRFAQ Framework book
An LLM Prompt Guide to help you create your PRFAQ
The Writing PRFAQ Checklist
The PRFAQ Templates
The workshop is from 9:00 to 11:00 AM PDT, followed by an optional 30 minute Q&A session.
Pre-requisites:
You don't need to know anything about PRFAQ or Working Backwards. However, we expect you to be leading (or considering) a project/initiative such as a startup, a new business line, product, feature set, program, or even a process.
It's not a requirement, but it's best if you are familiar with customer discovery, Jobs-to-be-Done, and the fundamentals of strategy.
Expectations:
This is an experimental workshop where my goal is to learn how to teach about the PRFAQ, Working Backwards, and precise writing. For this to be successful you must commit to fully engage during the workshop, and participate in the pre- and post-Workshop surveys. I expect you to have camera on during the event, and engage with other participants during the exercises.
