Hope Winter Blood Drive with New York Blood Center
January is National Blood Donor Month! However, a perfect storm of conditions has created an emergency blood shortage affecting millions of doctors and patients in the New York Metropolitan Area.
Winter is the most difficult time to maintain a sufficient blood supply. Blood donations tend to drop off during and shortly after the winter holidays. Inclement weather disrupts blood drives, and more people come down with colds, the flu, respiratory syncitial virus (RSV) or COVID-19. Respiratory viruses have been surging in the city since mid-November, setting the stage for the shortage.
Through the small yet heroic act of giving blood, you can save a life.
DETAILS: Hope Church NYC is excited to partner with the New York Blood Center to host a Winter Blood Drive to support the NYC Critical Blood Shortage this season. We will host a Blood Drive at Hope's HQ in Midtown (The Hub NYC at 31st/Park) and we hope that you can join us.
Please note that signing up does not guarantee you will be able to donate. When you arrive, there will be a short and quick medical history and eligibility check. Most people do qualify as blood donors even if you are taking medications. More info on this in FAQ below.
We are hoping to get around 100 registrations and a total of about 75 total blood donations this month! That's about 225 lives impacted in a single day in our city of New York. Please share with your friends who may be interested!
