About Event

** This is a LIVE workshop. Attendees will be sent a video recording after the workshop. **

How can writers avoid clichés when crafting a sex scene? How can sex scenes deepen the relationship dynamics between characters?

Even though people think about sex all the time, and even have it occasionally, writers tend to shy away from the subject. Which is crazy. Because sex is the one experience that makes us all hopeful and horny and embarrassed and vulnerable (at least if we’re doing it right).

In this 60-minute freewheeling session with author Steve Almond, we’ll look at the work of Mary Gordon, Toni Morrison, and other literary figures to learn how to infuse our own sex scenes with genuine emotion and ecstatic sensation, not evasions and porn clichés.

Arrive ready to lay your characters bare.
