GCP customer SmugMug Geoff Ryder
Geoff Ryder leads the data warehouse team, analytics and reporting, and machine learning model development at SmugMug. Our company aims to build a better world through the power of photography by ensuring people can relive their cherished memories. In recent years AI/ML has been a big topic for us and our customers, as it is for everyone who works with images, and we have just started working with features of Vertex AI in our data science program. Geoff has a twenty-year career working at companies in Silicon Valley, and holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from UC-Santa Cruz.
Maggie Zhang: DIY training large-scale models
Maggie is currently a Customer Engineer working with a large enterprise customer, helping them to train their large-scale models on TPUs (10k+ chips, billions parameters). This talk focuses on how to do distributed large-scale training using JAX and the challenges MLEs might face: hardware failures, data pre-processing, checkpointing, monitoring.
Fahd Rafi: MLOps in the era of LLMs
Fahd Rafi is a Customer Engineer at Google, where he helps customers harness the power of the Google Cloud Platform to achieve their business goals. With over 15 years of experience in data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, Fahd has worked across various sectors, including retail, consumer goods, finance, and energy, designing and implementing data analytics, AI, and ML solutions.
Fahd is passionate about using technology to create meaningful business value and is always eager to learn and grow in this ever-evolving field. Today, he will be sharing his insights on MLOps for Large Language Models (LLMs), discussing the challenges and opportunities it presents, and exploring how these tools and techniques can drive innovation and efficiency in organizations.
Sahar Tavakoli: Gemini for Workspace and Gemini for developers
Sahar is a Customer Engineer at Google Cloud, focusing on AI/ML and Generative AI. She joined Google about a year ago and has been working in the AI field for about 10 years. She received her PhD in Computer Science, specializing in Machine Learning.
Sarthak Singh: Prompt Engineering on Vertex AI
As a customer engineer specializing in AI and machine learning, Sarthak has worked closely with numerous organizations, helping them implement and optimize AI solutions to achieve their business goals. In this session, you will learn how to craft effective prompts that elicit the desired responses from LLM models, as well as tips and tricks for optimizing your prompts to achieve the best possible results.
