Join Climate Designers Los Angeles during our quarterly Global Chapters Month! This casual meetup will connect you to like-minded creatives wherever they are on their climate journey.
🤙 About Event
A morning of immersing in community, art, and conversations with Climate Designers at Brand Library! Below is our flexible agenda, we will go with the flow depending on what the group wants to do.
9:15-9:30AM Meet at the top of the stairs on the west side of the building / introductions
9:30-10:30AM Docent Tour of Brand Library & Art Center / wear comfortable shoes!
10:30-11AM (for those who arrive later / not joining the morning Docent Tour) Meet at Brand Library and Art Center main entrance
11-11:30AM Clothing & Art Supplies Swap
11:30-12:00PM Check out the gallery exhibit: PERSEVERANCE: 20 Years of Thinkspace - featuring over 70 artists, “PERSEVERANCE” celebrates the 20th anniversary of the gallery with a presentation of new works by local artists as well as site-specific murals.
12:00-1:00PM Hang out and have a snack at the Shoseian Teahouse, a Japanese tea garden at the library
**Wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen, and bring a snack if you'd like to hang with us at the Japanese tea garden at the end.
🤙 Details of the Clothing & Art Supplies Swap
Come to the community Clothing & Art Supplies Swap! Be part of the movement that has swapped 2030 lb. of clothes in the community.
✨How the Clothing Swap Works! 👕
Find up to 10 clean and gently used (no holes or tears) clothing items, like shirts, bottoms, dresses, and jackets.
Jewelry, shoes, underwear, socks or any other accessories are not accepted.
You can drop your items off on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Brand Library & Art Center or bring them at the beginning of the clothing swap. We will stop accepting contributions after 12:00 PM at the event.
Arrive between 11:00AM - 1:00PM, and shop! Please don’t take more items than you brought.
After 12:00 PM, the Clothing Swap opens to the general public, and anyone can take as many items as they like.
Once you finish swapping, check out the Art Supplies, Free Book Shop, have a coffee, tea, and snacks!
✨How the Art Swap Works! 🖌️
Gather your clean, new or gently-used art & craft supplies that you’d like to gift to others. Please do not bring more than one box/shopping bag per person.
Come to the swap and contribute your items to the free market for swapping! Browse and take home as many items as you like!
Art supplies only can also be dropped off at Brand Library from February 1 – 28 during operational hours.
Items accepted: Supplies & tools for art, crafts, photography, tinkering, etc. Some examples include: Paint, Clay, Glue, Ribbon, Beads, Wire, Pliers, Yarn, Canvas, Easels Fabrics & more.
Items not accepted: Dangerous or toxic materials, discarded projects, expired or dried up materials, broken & non-functioning items, oversized/bulk scraps.
🔋 Bring Your Small Batteries for Recycling! ♻️
If you have small batteries that you'd like to get rid of, we can recycle them for you! Just bring them along to the event.
The Library is only accepting drop-offs of: 9 volt, AA, AAA, C Cell, D Cell, Lithium (phone/computer), Mercury button (watch/hearing aid), Ni-Cd. No other battery type will be accepted. Please do not bring large batteries such as car batteries and alike.
This program is presented in partnership with Glendale Office of Sustainability.
🚗 Getting There
Limited, free parking is available in Brand Park. An accessible entrance and accessible parking for cars with a disabled parking placard or license plate is located on the East side of Brand Library. Carpool if you can!
🌍 About Global Chapters Week
Chapters Month is a quarterly event that takes place around the world. Along with Climate Designers LA, there are other Climate Designers chapters bringing their design communities together.
You all are participating in a global event series happening this week alongside fellow designers from around the world to learn, share, and connect with one another.
Our climate emergency affects every city, town, and region differently. This is why we need to learn about the climate organizations and policies in our area so that we know what’s going on and how we can help. This is key to ensuring creatives can step up and use their talents in supporting these efforts.
