About Event

This panel will highlight the leadership of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in advancing nature-based solutions for impactful climate action.

The discussion will feature the Kichwa Indigenous Peoples of Sarayaku, who will present the Kawsay Ñampi Climate Project—a transformative initiative that integrates traditional knowledge and community stewardship to protect their territory in the Ecuadorian Amazon.

The panel will also include insights from Coordinating Body of Indigenous Organisations of the Amazon Basin (COICA) on Indigenous perspectives of carbon offsets in the Amazon; the National Indian Carbon Coalition, a Native-owned carbon developer; and the Shelterwood Collective, a BIPOC and LGBTQ group managing 900 acres of land in California.

Additionally, the panel will introduce the Climate Justice (CJ) Standard, a framework designed to certify high-quality, community-led projects that prioritize equity and Indigenous leadership.
