​Choose Your Own Adventure by exploring, playing, and building your ideas with the Vancouver community over the span of a weekend. Bring your curiosity, dream big, and get ready to create the future of Vancouver.

​What is a Side Quest?

​Embark on a creative quest with your team to build an idea over a weekend that helps shape the future of Vancouver. You’ll have the weekend to create something unique that aligns with the theme (to be revealed). Examples include:

• ​Deploying micro-sensors into community gardens to assess plant health

• ​Go to Pacific Spirit Park, take photos of birds, and print an entire bird encyclopedia

• ​Write, film, and showcase a short film about Vancouver

• ​A park proposal for an abandoned parking lot

• ​A 3D printed poetry installation

• ​….whatever you can dream

​Disclaimer: You do NOT need to come in with an idea, you'll come up with one as part of the event! You also do not need to come in with a team, you will form one during the event!

​What is a Mini Quest?

​To make things interesting and inspire wonder and play, we’re curating short cross-discipline activities. You can participate in as many or little as you like. ​A team-building experience where you enter the world of your fellow curious, ambitious, and accomplished creatives, finding intersection points and bringing your ideas to the community.

​What will I actually be doing?

​We'll give you a prompt relating to a problem that Vancouver faces, and you'll spend the weekend building a project related to it, embarking on mini quests (small side events), and meeting new people!

​Is this a competition?

​No! There will be plenty of opportunities for collaboration amongst other teams — you're going to make new friends, collaborate in fun ways, and work together to incubate innovative new solutions.

​Is this event overnight?

​No, we're going to have a venue cutoff at around 8pm on Saturday. You'll come back the next morning.

​Are there prizes?

​Yes, you won't be "judged" traditionally, but there will be superlative prizes. There are no monetary prizes.

​Do I need to come with an idea/team?

​Nope! You'll be forming your team and idea as part of the event.

​Why does this cost money?

​We want to ensure that we provide you with the best experience possible, and part of that involves making sure everyone is committed to showing up and creating a great atmosphere, which is why we ask for a small buy-in. This is a not-for-profit event, the money is being completely invested into the experience of the event.
