About Event

Ready for a fast-paced evening of ideas, inspiration, and community? Join us for Lightning Talks, hosted by CJUG, the AI Collective Chicago Chapter, and the Chicago Kotlin Users Group! Whether you’re a Java/Kotlin/JVM enthusiast, an AI explorer, or somewhere in between, this is your chance to share your passion—or just soak up the energy from others. Each speaker gets just 5-8 minutes to spark curiosity, share a story, or demo something cool. Think of it as open mic night, but for techies!

If you’ve got a topic burning a hole in your brain—maybe a clever Java trick, an AI breakthrough, or a wild mashup of both—step up and grab the mic. Or just come to cheer on your fellow community members, meet new friends, and get inspired. The venue is still being finalized, but rest assured, it’ll be a welcoming spot for all. Mark your calendar and get ready for a lively evening of learning, laughter, and lightning-fast talks!

As of July 13, we have the following speakers confirmed:

Juan Peredo: "Lessons Learned from using AI in Applications"

Jerason Banes: "Statistics in Everyday Code"

Josh Austin: "HTML Might Be All You Need"

** Please submit your lightning short talk proposal to: present@cjug.org

** Please look for us on our CJUG Discord server if you have any questions or would like some ideas for your proposal.

** We will be open to having a practice virtual session if you'd like. Please feel free to message us.
