The Future of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is radically transforming our lives, opening up a range of opportunities and challenges. Against this background, training in Computer Engineering is revealed as one of the most promising and essential for the professional future.
AI, with its capabilities to analyze massive data, make decisions and learn through algorithms, is already redefining sectors from health, aeronautics, sports or finance. Juanjo Almela, dean of the College of Technical Engineers and Degree in Computer Engineering indicates that “to take advantage of its maximum potential and guarantee ethical and safe developments, we need well-trained professionals in computer science.”
This is where the Computer Engineering career becomes relevant. This training not only offers the technical tools necessary to enter the world of AI, but also instills a critical and ethical sense. Students learn to design robust systems, to anticipate possible failures and to understand the social implications of their developments.
Health (AI enables more accurate and faster diagnoses, highly accurate medical image analysis, and prediction of disease outbreaks. In addition, AI personalizes treatments and medications based on patient needs); Environment (AI can monitor and analyze climate data to predict and mitigate natural disasters, as well as optimize resource use in agriculture and better manage energy consumption); Linguistic (AI-based automatic translation tools allow communication between people of different languages, breaking linguistic barriers; o Education (AI-based personalized tutoring systems can adapt to the student's learning pace, providing material and resources according to individual needs) are some of the examples of the use of AI.
Almela highlights that, “however, despite the exponential importance of this discipline, the regulation of computing as a profession varies considerably from one country to another.” In our country, we are working hard to establish standards and regulations that ensure the quality of training and professional practice.
