Long Now London 2501 - Optimism
As another year begins
Long Now London has been gathering in a variety of formats, locations and frequencies since 02008. Since 02018 we have met on the second Thursday of the month, usually in a pub, sometimes in a park, online when necessary.

Optimism
Bending our own rules, we are meeting on this third Thursday of the month to coincide for the public launch at the RSA of "The Bright Side" by Sumit Paul Choudhury - a deeply researched investigation into the psychology, philosophy and practice of optimism. Sumit has chalked the horse with us and member of our London community.
Sumit will be speaking elsewhere in RSA House at 6pm (get your free tickets for that here) and then we will meet in the bar as usual.
The book is now widely available and the audiobook is here. As Sumit does more publicity for it we may also share some other links via Luma "blast" with those who RSVP here.
Where
Muse is the new cocktail bar in RSA House. At the start of the evening you can access Muse via the main RSA entrance on John Adam Street, but after a certain point you will have to enter via the designated door round the corner on Adam Street (not John Adam Street!). At that door, press the buzzer and they will come and let you in ASAP. Say you are there for Long Now and you will be directed to us (most likely filling their second room).
Why
Come for conversations about long-term thinking, deep time, art, futures, technology, maintenance, a wide range of -ologies and -isms depending on the crowd, and all kinds of attempts to think even just a little outside of the rapid fire frameworks encouraged by these accelerating times.
About Us
Long Now London is a community of practice for long-term thinking. The group started in 02008 and has been meeting every month (usually in a pub) since 02018.
We are an independent local group inspired by work of the Long Now Foundation and using their name with permission. We are in regular dialogue with other such groups around the world. If you would like to set up your own where you are, please do get in touch.
