About Event

We know how important hard skills are when we’re looking at job descriptions, but do we truly comprehend the importance of soft skills? Soft skills are what make us great team additions, help build cultures, and are the most important part of who we are as professionals. Being that we specialize in the career pivot space, we know just how important soft skills are and that’s why we’re bringing you a couple of talent acquisition professionals to answer your questions about how to bring your soft skills to life in the interview process.

We’ll be joined by Christa Dias, Sr. HR Coordinator/Specialist at Twitter, Chanel Carlos, Direct Recruiter at Deutsche Bank, and Jonathan Gourdet, Tech Sourcer at Meta. They'll discuss things like:

  • The actual importance of demonstrating those soft skills in your interview

  • How to effectively communicate those soft skills

  • What recruiters are looking for from behavior questions

Christa (She/Her) is a 1st generation Brooklynite (Brooklyn, NY) of Caribbean descent. She currently works at Twitter on the recruiting team. Prior to working here, she worked at JetBlue, Delta Hedge Fund, Hulu, Harry's & a host of retail stores. In addition to creating amazing candidate/client experiences, she’s done a lot of project-based work and event planning. When she’s not busy tweeting you can find her traveling, reading, shopping, and connecting with new people. She does not live to work, she works to live & just so happens to love what she does.

Welcome to a day in the life of Chanel Carlos!

As a Direct Recruiter at Deutsche Bank in New York, NY working underneath an RPO firm called Resource Solutions my days are endless and full of discussions as I work hard to fill open roles for the firm. In my role, some of the key components and responsibilities I hold are aggressively sourcing potential candidates, providing effective communication to the business heads, and interviewing prospective candidates against open roles within the New York and Jacksonville, FL locations. To many hiring seems simple and easy, however, it’s so many components that fall in line with the process prior to an offer being extended.

The greatest feeling at the end of the process for myself is knowing I was able to find the right candidate for the role, through my actions and efforts the hiring team was satisfied, and through the process I was able to help someone find their next career opportunity with a rewarding future ahead of them.

Jonathan is a Technical Sourcer at Meta (formerly Facebook). Have spent the last 7 years in recruitment at Walmart Corporate, JPMorgan Chase and UBS. Graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Labor Relations and Business.
