Validate your Business Idea with Real Customers
About the Session:
TL;DR: Learn a no-nonsense way to validate your business idea with real paying customers, without burning time, money, and most importantly, your energy. You've got a business idea. Now what?
DO NOT do the following:
- finding a co-founder
- building a prototype
- branding and website
It breaks my heart to meet smart, kind founders who spent months (sometimes years), their life savings, and energy pursuing an idea before realizing they built something the market does not want. Sadly, it is too late for me to help them.
They are about to burn out before eventually giving up on their idea.
What they are missing is simple: happy paying customers.
I've seen this play out so many times. I decided it was time to create a free resource to help founders the moment they've got an idea.
In this session, I'll share a 5-step process on how to validate your business idea. We'll go over how you can do some rapid market research and identify a solution you can sell now to get real proof, revenue, (and confidence!) to pursue your idea. Worse case: you'll find out the market does not want this idea and you'll have the data to inform a pivot or another idea!
This is best if your business idea is an app, SaaS, marketplace, or b2b productized service. It is least likely to be helpful for physical consumer goods.
About the Host:
I am Sweta Govani. After 15+ years working with early-stage startups, I discovered my mission: helping underestimated tech(enabled) startup founders get to 100 Happy Paying Customers so they can build thriving businesses on their terms.
I’ve been the first GTM hire at 2 startups. I joined one pre-revenue and another pre-product so I’m the rare few who has worked at the true $0 stage.
I also worked at a startup that IPO-ed while I was there, and prior to that managed a $40M/year email program. i.e. I know how to build scalable marketing programs, when the business is ready for it. I’ve worked with/advised 100s of founders on their 0-1 journey.
I run the Founder-Led Marketing Club, a small group coaching program for smart, supportive founders to help you get your first 100 Happy Paying Customers.
