Cultural capital: how London shaped the arts. In conversation with Munira Mirza
Join the Greater London Project for our second event, upstairs at The Sekforde on the 25th of November
Centuries of London being a world city have given rise to some of the most incredible displays of art, music, theatre, sculpture, dance, fashion, and history ever created. London’s cityscape is filled with large, historic institutions dedicated to the curation and preservation of this heritage, but it is also a site of constant innovation and messy experimentation.
How did London become a cultural superpower, and what is the economic, social, and symbolic value generated by London's cultural assets? How do they reinforce its influence, and what they mean for creatives, policy-makers, and audiences alike?
Join the Greater London Project for a conversation with Munira Mirza, Chief Executive of Civic Future, former Director of the Number 10 Policy Unit and Deputy Mayor for London. The discussion will be chaired by Joe Hill, Co-founder of the Greater London Project.
We will unpack how London’s cultural capital is created and sustained, and how it can be leveraged to enrich public life in a global city.
Drinks will be provided.
