10 Things Social Purpose Organizations Need to Know About Newcomer Talent

Featuring Ritika Saraswat

In this session, tailored for nonprofit founders and leaders, we will delve into the essential strategies for effectively engaging newcomer talent within your organization. Whether you aim to bring in volunteers, build a team, or cater to the needs of newcomers, understanding their unique challenges and motivations is crucial. We will explore best practices for outreach, how to offer meaningful benefits, and the organizational structures that facilitate community building. You'll learn the importance of empathy, resonating with their experiences, and creating a sense of belonging—where your team operates as a supportive community rather than just a workplace. Additionally, we'll discuss the nuances of communicating your mission in a way that resonates deeply with newcomers, ensuring that your efforts are well-received and impactful.

About the Speaker
Ritika Saraswat is a creator, speaker, founder, writer, and consultant. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from UBC, her academic background is rooted in science. However, she has always been determined to break into the top consulting companies and is passionate about helping others from non-target schools do the same. Through her work with various startups, non-profits, and other organizations, Ritika has seen countless students striving to achieve similar goals, and she is driven to support them. This motivation fuels her content creation on this platform. Ritika’s mission is "to raise awareness about students, particularly international students from non-traditional backgrounds, and help them transform into winners." She has faced challenges that many can relate to, particularly those stemming from a non-traditional educational background. Despite applying to hundreds of roles, she encountered numerous rejections, a familiar experience for many in their careers.
