DAY TRIP | CASTEFOLLIT AND BEGET + CALÇOTADA
Castefollit de la Roca, perched on the edge of a cliff, is one of the smallest villages in the province of Girona.
Formed by two overlapping lava flows, it spans only one kilometer in length, with a 50-meter cliff carved by the Fluvià River.
Its origins date back to the 11th century, with its castle being destroyed by the French in the 17th century. Today, the old town stands out, as it was built with basaltic stones and rocks, extending from the main street to the Josep Pla viewpoint.
Undoubtedly, it is one of the most fascinating villages in Catalonia.
Just 45 minutes away, you’ll find Beget, which was an independent municipality until 1969 when it became part of the municipality of Camprodon. Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, it has fewer than 100 inhabitants. Its Romanesque bridges and cobblestone streets make it truly unique.

For those who choose the calçotada option, we’ll head to a restaurant on the outskirts of Castefollit, specializing in calçots (Catalan spring onions) and grilled meats (Can Bundancia). Here, we’ll enjoy an authentic calçotada (calçots, grilled meat, butifarra, etc.) for €32 (Please bring cash), which also includes drinks, dessert, coffee, and more!
If someone doesn’t eat meat, the meat can be substituted with fish.
For those who do not choose the calçotada option, you’ll have free time to explore the village or take a short hike in the surrounding area.
