Technology Capacity Building for Nonprofits
Under the umbrella of Toronto Tech Week, this free event is designed for the staff of nonprofits, shelters, and small businesses that are interested in improving their technology and security approaches,
Attendees will take part in an engaging seminar covering the technological threats that organizations face, how to prepare staff, and ways to anticipate and prevent future security compromises. Our speakers bring years of experience working on tech teams for shelters, nonprofits, and government.
This event will be held in the evening at the George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre, where light refreshments will be offered. Come out for a snack, a chat, and to meet your community!
Speakers
Jonathan Hutchinson, IT Systems, Hardware Support Specialist, CONC
Jonathan has experience running a small but mighty IT team of one at CONC, and at Foundation House (where he supported 12 social impact organizations, affectionately known as roomies), as well as building the technology team and approach as IT Manager at Venture for Canada (VFC) and the Avenue Road Arts School. When he’s not fixing devices at his 9-5, he is fixing devices 5-9 via Byte Repair, Repair Cafe, and Karma Co-op. He is often found at 192.168.0.1.
Ziad El Dani, Cyber Security Architect, Supply Ontario
Ziad has experience in complete IT overhauls, from the perspective of a brand-new employee to the manager of a technology team. He succeeded Jonathan as IT Security Manager at VFC, and currently works for Supply Ontario as one of its founding Security Architects. He is a massive fan of The Office and is often found on an obscure version of Linux.
