Join Kat Taylor, Co-Founder of TomKat Ranch LLC, and Zach Ducheneaux, former USDA Farm Services Agency Administrator at the Melody Cathedral at 2PM for an SF Climate Week panel discussion, “Shifting the Paradigm: Financing Equity in Nature-Based Climate Solutions.”
In our current system of agricultural finance, small-scale farmers and ranchers are often not afforded the financial stability to invest in nature-based solutions, leaving our land stewards vulnerable to worsening climate and financial challenges. This event will explore changes to the agricultural finance industry that can better support small and under-resourced farmers and ranchers so they can invest in land management that sequesters carbon, restores soil health and water cycles, and promotes the resilience of their businesses. It’s time for financial offerings for agricultural producers to innovate and provide models that are less extractive, giving producers the tools and economic freedom to invest in their business, their land, and themselves.
This roundtable will give multiple perspectives on current realities, new and innovative credit pathways and models that can better enable farmers and ranchers to invest in their operations, and discuss opening the door wider for adopting climate-smart practices and increasing resilience.
