About Event

Our upcoming Bonne Suits drop is dedicated to Dutch performance artist Bas Jan Ader. In celebration of Bas Jan Ader's legacy we've teamed up with IDFA documentaire paviljoen to showcase the documentary 'The man who looked beyond the horizon' by Martijn Blekendaal.

Ader is known for his deeply poetic and minimalist works, often centered around themes of vulnerability, loss, and disappearance. In multiple of his works, Ader performs simple acts of falling. In one version, he falls off the roof of a house, and in another, he rides his bicycle into a canal. These seemingly mundane acts highlight universal themes of failure and human fragility.

Bas Jan Ader's legacy, marked by his minimalist, conceptual approach and existential themes, resonates with the approach of Bonne Suits, known for its clean lines, simplicity, and egalitarian ethos. Both share a sensibility rooted in Dutch cultural traditions of minimalism, directness, honesty and functionality.

Since Bas Jan Ader was wearing an Old Blue one-colored ensemble in his work Fall II, we dedicated our new drop to the legacy of the late artist. With our focus on local arts and culture, it is important for us to also commemorate those artist who are no longer with us, and continue to value their works.
