Advancing Ocean Innovation: Seaweed Stories Film Screening (hosted by CapShift, Lonely Whale & Re:wild)
Please join CapShift, Lonely Whale, and Re:wild for an exclusive preview screening of Seaweed Stories during DC Climate Week, followed by remarks and a networking happy hour. We’ll explore the vital role of seaweed in ocean conservation, the growing investment landscape of the blue economy, and the power of collaboration in protecting marine life.
The ocean faces triple threats — from plastic pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change. Yet, there are solutions.
Presented by Lonely Whale in association with Re:wild, Seaweed Stories, a 30-minute documentary narrated by Forest Whitaker, features some of the extraordinary innovators who are harnessing the power of seaweed to solve our most pressing challenges. Discover the vast potential of this oft-overlooked marine plant — from a Silicon Valley startup creating plastic alternatives from macroalgae, to the Indigenous Shinnecock Kelp Farmers using seaweed to prove their sovereign right to coastal land, and a scientist in South Korea supporting the creation of a new species resistant to the effects of a changing climate.
Following the screening, CapShift will lead a discussion on the critical role that investors can play in advancing ocean innovation and climate action — with the blue economy projected to grow to $3 trillion by 2030.[1]
Join us to connect with mission-aligned peers, explore opportunities for collaboration, and discover how investors can leverage nature and science for deep impact.
