Meet Our Panelists

Dr. Bruce Cain - Director, Bill Lane Center at Stanford University Dr. Bruce Cain is a Professor of Political Science at Stanford University and Director of the Bill Lane Center for the American West, focusing on environmental governance and climate strategies. He has previously taught at UC Berkeley and Caltech and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2000. Bruce holds degrees from Harvard (PhD), Oxford (B.Phil), and Bowdoin College (BA).

Alisa Valderrama - Co-Founder and CEO, FutureProof Technologies Alisa Valderrama is the co-founder and CEO of FutureProof Technologies, a venture-backed property insurance startup focused on climate risk. Previously, she directed Water Infrastructure Finance at the Natural Resources Defense Council, leading innovative urban infrastructure water finance initiatives. Alisa holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, University of Southern California, and the London School of Economics.

Fernando Llaver - CEO, Splight Fernando Llaver is the CEO of Splight, a software company using AI to optimize renewable energy use in the grid. His energy sector experience includes serving as Executive Director of Distrocuyo, an Argentinian power distribution company. Fernando studied at National University of Cuyo and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Jesse Lazarus - Climate Tech Venture Policy Advisor Jesse Lazarus advises leading climate tech ventures on global policy and grant strategy. He previously led federal policy advocacy for a Gates Ventures-backed clean energy tech company and practiced law with Wilson Sonsini, helping secure over $2B in federal funding. Jesse holds degrees from Stanford (JD), Yale (MBA), and Middlebury College (BA).
