​🧐 ELI5 on Cosmos SDK, AEZ, ICS and more

​The Cosmos SDK allows anyone to build and launch a PoS chain. It was created in 2017-18.

​Chains built and launched with the Cosmos SDK include Osmosis, Celestia, Polygon PoS (partly built with Cosmos SDK), Cronos PoS, Injective, Axelar, DYDX and Thorchain.

​The Cosmos Hub is the first blockchain launched with the Cosmos SDK. ATOM token is used to secure the chain, to reward the validators and also to vote via on-chain governance proposals.

​In the Cosmos jargon, a Zone can be a chain or a group of chains.

​The ATOM Economic Zone (AEZ) is an ATOM-aligned ecosystem of chains and dApps that bring direct value to the Cosmos Hub.

​Interchain Security (ICS): In essence, it enables one blockchain to inherit the security of another - aka “shared security”. This offers several advantages:

1. ​Eliminates the need to establish and maintain a separate set of validators.

2. ​Leverages the robust security of a larger, higher market cap chain.

3. ​Gains access to the community awareness, support, user base, and liquidity of the more established chain.

​Chains using ICS include Neutron and Stride. They inherit the security of the Cosmos Hub.
