Glen Park 2024 Reunion Saturday July 6th
Chautauqua for generations has been many things to many people. Music and dance, literary exploration, religious and spiritual immersion, a lens into a multitude of fields, relaxation, connection with others, art, water sports and golf, various traditions, opera, ice cream, the stillness of the night, baseball and softball, the Chautauqua Daily, an investigation of relevant world and cultural issues, and so much more.
For those who grew up in the 70's and 80's, Chautauqua was also the place of going through formative life stages. One of those stages involved being a part of one's initial or early community of work whether that was at the Main Gate, the Boys and Girls Club, or the various hotels on the grounds. One of those hotels was none other than the Glen Park Hotel.
The Glen Park has long been dismantled and yet for decades, the Glen Park offered Chautauquans not only three square meals a day, but many formative moments for those who worked there in one form or another-from the dish porch, to the grill, to the dining hall, the pizza and sub shop, and beyond. Beyond the work and sometimes during work, were impactful moments that had, and continue to have, a reverberative impact decades standing.
So-if you ever worked at the Glen Park, please join us at the Glen Park 2024 Reunion on Saturday July 6th for reminiscing, and simple and yet valued moments of reconnection. As we have progressed in time, many of us have become more acutely aware of the value of moments, including new ones that reach back after all the years to earlier times such as at the Glen Park Hotel. Some of those moments were impactful in one way or another, some even contributing to who we are today...
Please join Todd Minnigh, Tom Spier, myself, and others, for an early evening gathering on Saturday July 6th from 5-8 PM at the Afterwords Wine Bar, followed by reconvening at the Athenaeum after the Saturday July 6th concert.
