many hackathons nowadays have been tainted by status. participants optimize for winning by incorporating sponsor prizes minimally in their hacks, which later goes on to be a LinkedIn post. judges, often with little experience in having ever made hacks for the love of it, judge the hacks from a false criteria too.
we wanna do something different.
inspired by the viral Twitter blog post on Taste, the residency and friends are organizing Tasty Hacks, to inspire and rehabilitate closeted creatives by creating projects for the beauty of them than utility.

we are looking for nerdy and kind people who want to be surrounded by like-minded folks. and make things they love in this 32-hour period of grind.
people coming from all walks are trades are welcome, as long as you’re willing to design or engineer! if you don’t have a team, trust us you'll find your people here if we accept you!
the goal is to have hackathon be small with only 20-30 people.
it should feel less like a hackathon and more like a family-style co-working session! :)
the judging criteria is simply four things: artistic merit, usefulness, progress (how much of the progress was made at the hackathon -- you can work on pre-existing projects), and storytelling.
