​The theme for this session will be Drawing Ideas. We'll look into the power of idioms as starting points for stronger ideas in our art. If you've ever wondered how to come up with clever concepts for editorial illustrations, this session is for you!

​Idioms are common expressions that we can use as shorthand for more complex ideas, such as "barking up the wrong tree". This gives us a quick mental picture to understand a message.

​As illustrators, we can use idioms to quickly communicate ideas in actual pictures as well. The question is, how? In this session, I'll share with you some ideas I've been working on to do just that.

​​​​What Will We Do?

​I'll guide you through some exercises in pairing ideas with idioms to create more conceptual illustration ideas. The focus will be on sketches rather than finished illustrations. We'll meet on video call.

​​​​What Do We Need to Bring?

​​Bring your favourite sketching app and tools, such as Procreate, Photoshop, or even paints. Basic sketching tools like paper and pencil will be perfect!
