About Event

This is a social and discursive space for those who are interested in thinking about the methods, meanings and missions of science in the twenty-first century. What factors affect the reproducibility of scientific studies? What are the best practices for ensuring high research quality? How prevalent is publication bias? How do funding and institutional pressures affect research outcomes? What are optimal funding strategies for maximizing scientific progress? How effective is peer review in ensuring scientific quality? What are the strengths and weaknesses of different publication models (e.g., open access vs. traditional journals)? How do cognitive and methodological biases influence scientific outcomes? How can the scientific community better identify and reduce bias? What factors contribute to successful interdisciplinary research? How does collaboration affect research impact and innovation? How effective are current metrics (e.g., impact factor, h-index) in evaluating scientific impact and quality? What new metrics could better capture the impact and rigor of scientific work? How should science policy be structured to best support research? How can science be better communicated to the public and policymakers? What ethical norms should guide scientific research? If you are interested and these and other questions pertaining to the ecosystem in which research is conducted, the uses and ethics of science and technology, and the interrelationship between society, philosophy and science, then please come, discuss, and meet other like-minded metascience thinkers.
