The Atlas Mountains, home to the Berber people, are a major mountain range in North Africa, including Morocco. They form a natural barrier between the coasts to the north and the Sahara Desert to the south.

Divided in three sections, we will trek through High Atlas, the highest and most famous part of the Atlas range, including Mount Toubkal. This region features lush valleys, alpine meadows, and deep ravines. Also the famous Lake D'Ifni will be part of the itinerary.

Mount Toubkal itself stands as the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167m asl and we will climb the mountain at the very last day of the trek.

This trek will be an unique blend of adventure and cultural heritage.

Accommodation will be in Berber houses and two nights in tents. Camping equipment, like tents, sleeping mats and cooking utensils will be provided. However you have to bring your own sleeping bag.

We will engage mules for the luggage transfer, so you will only have to carry your daypack.

Although there are no organised activities on Day 1, make sure to arrive in Marrakech on Day 1 as we have booked accommodation for that night. Also for Day 7, upon finishing the trek, riad accommodation is included in the package.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Morocco, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?

Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Morocco at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.

Although there will be guides, this still remains a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file in advance and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers.

For more details and procedure, follow this link.

IMPORTANT: keep in mind that there is always a chance that we are not allowed to hike due to dangerous weather or other conditions (eg heavy rain, flood, earthquake, landslide, health measures...) - we cannot be held responsible for such cancellation.
