FULBRIGHT FEAT. ARCHITECTURE: Architecture Beyond Buildings
An evening of lightning talks exploring how architecture shapes societies, engages communities, and reimagines the built environment
🗓️ 25.08.2025
🕕 Doors open at 6:00 PM, event starts at 6:30 PM
📍 TU Architecture Forum (Str. des 17. Juni 152, 10623 Berlin)
Join us for a special evening of creative lightning talks exploring how architecture can shape society, engage communities, and create cultural impact, far beyond buildings.
Three inspiring Fulbrighters will take the stage for a whirlwind tour of their professional paths, current projects, and the unique perspectives they gained through their Fulbright experiences. From spatial justice and participatory design to classical architecture and material experimentation, each talk opens a window into how architecture can expand its purpose in today’s world.
🎤 Speakers:
🔹 Alec Rovensky – Architectural designer and Fulbright grantee in Berlin. Previously Residency Director at the Institute for Public Architecture in NYC. Alec will share how he’s used architectural tools in unexpected ways — from building stoves in rural China to inaugurating a design residency program on Governors Island.
🔹 Stephanie Kubus – Architectural Designer and Fulbright Scholar in Germany. With a background in traditional design, Stephanie will discuss her research on Nazi-era architecture with a focus on how reading cities through architectural language has shaped her approach to history, memory, and meaning in design.
🔹 Anna Kostreva – Architect, writer, and co-director of Plural Studio (Berlin). A Fulbright Scholar to South Africa, Anna will present how her research in post-apartheid Johannesburg has shaped her interdisciplinary work in community co-creation and public critical discourse over the past 15 years.
🎤 Moderator & FULBRIGHT FEAT. AMBASSADOR:
🔹 Josefina D’Ambra- Architectural Designer from Argentina, living and working in Berlin, Fulbright Scholar at UIC Chicago 2018-2019.
Each of them will share how the Fulbright program helped them expand their architectural practice across borders and disciplines.
After doors open at 6:00 p.m., we will have a 10-minute introduction, followed by each speaker's lightning talk and a moderated discussion. Afterward, please stay with us: there will be time to network and connect while enjoying snacks and drinks.
🎉Whether you're an architect, urban thinker, student, or curious mind — this is for you. Everyone’s welcome, come get inspired!
