Frequently Asked Questions 👇

Is this face-to-face? Yes, it’s face-to-face, however you can participate in online discussions on this subreddit if you’re not able to make our face-to-face discussions.

Is it free? Yes, membership is completely free, however, you will have to purchase your own book (or ebook, or audiobook), and meetups are KKB.

Who can be members? We welcome people from all walks of life here — there is no age limit, no educational background necessary, no religious discrimination — as long as you respect others, you are welcome here.

When and where do we meet? We meet once a month every month on a Saturday night. We decide the final date and time on our Telegram group chat here: https://t.me/+JKsErncNdVdkZjBl

What books are we going to read? We read all kinds of books from all genres. After every meetup, we nominate books to read for next month, and vote. For 2024, we're sticking to loose themes just to keep it varied: https://bit.ly/49NJniA

It’s my first book club! How does this work? We will post the book of the month every month on the r/Cebooklub subreddit as a pinned post and coordinate meetups through Telegram.

Do I have to speak during discussions? Nope, introverts are welcome here!

What are the discussions like? Informal (like chika), but loosely guided by a faciliator. We usually start with a background of the book, author, or genre; then start discussions about narrative elements like narration, symbolism, etc.

How long are the discussions? It takes between 1.5-3hours depending on how many people there are, and how interesting the book was. You can leave early if you have prior commitments, we'll be glad you came <3 After discussions, some of us also tend to go get dinner somewhere affordable, if you're up for that, you can join, if not, no worries!

What if I can’t finish the book? Don’t worry, it’s not the end of the world. You can still show up to discussions, but there will be spoilers!
