Hours Slip Away: An Ambiguous Dance – TAKEOVER #5
TAKEOVER #5: Hours Slip Away: An Ambiguous Dance by Irena Kukrić
"Hours Slip Away: An Ambiguous Dance" is a performance installation featuring non-human actors that uses automated movements to explore the relationship between humans and technology, particularly the feelings of disconnect and the search for connection that arise from increasingly digital interactions. The work uses repetition to symbolize the search for meaning in a world dominated by algorithms. The installation invites viewers to reflect on the implications of a shift toward a post-human perspective and our fundamental need for connection. Presented as case studies that decenter human agency, a performative scene develops where interpretation unfolds with the visitors.
We warmly welcome you to the vernissage on Thursday, 10 October. The exhibition will be open from 11 October through 21 October.
Irena Kukrić's (1983) practice centers around time-based installation performances, specifically exploring the absence of the human body in these works. Her performances focus on the balance between the digital or mechanical dimensions of the works and on the poetics of human experience through non-human actors. Irena studied scenography and holds a Master in Digital Media, and she is currently a PhD candidate at the PhDArts Leiden. She was born in Belgrade and lives and works between Bremen and Berlin.

As always, TAKEOVER #5 at Bright Moments Berlin Gallery is hosted by Anna Lucia and Julian Hespenheide. Coming from a long tradition of squatting ("besetzen") or taking over spaces during the 80s and 90s, TAKEOVER is an artist-led initiative in the former Bright Moments Gallery in Berlin.
