​Like neon lights illuminating Hong Kong’s nights, poetry illuminates the city in Ann Hui’s Elegies. Through poets Huang Canran, Liu Waitong, and the late Xi Xi, the film captures fading worlds and enduring voices. Their poetry becomes a time capsule, weaving past and present into a portrait of Hong Kong on the verge of vanishing.
