About Event

On 27 May 2025, from 14:30 to 17:30 CET, CERRE will host the launch event of the upcoming report “The Flexibility Challenge in the Energy Sector” at the University Foundation in Brussels. 

The event will open with a fireside chat on Bridging national priorities: can the single market deliver flexibility for all, and feature a presentation of CERRE’s latest report on the matter, which is a collaboration of Prof Chloé Le Coq (CERRE Research Fellow and University Paris Panthéon-Assas), Dr Daniel Duma (CERRE Research Fellow, Stockholm Environment Institute), Anna Rita Bennato (Loughborough University) and Ewa Lazarczyk (Reykjavik University). The study includes policy recommendations to better implement regulation aimed at leveraging flexibility to increase energy security and support the path to net zero.  

Two high-level panel discussions will bring together EU policymakers, industry leaders, and regulators. “The Business Case for Flexibility” from 15:40 to 16:30, will representatives from DG ENER, along with PPC, Terna, GRDF, and Snam. The second panel discussion “Enabling Flexibility: The Rulebook” from 16:35 to 17:30 will gather representatives from ACER, the Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate (Ei), ARERA, and Ofgem
