Peter Speer & Milad Mozari Performance

“Floating Nest" is a multichannel composition by Milad Mozari and Peter Speer that presents the calls of 28 birds native to the Chicagoland area and provides a speculative vantage on how a changing climate may affect the songs they sing (via collage, time-stretching and resynthesis).

Artist: Peter Speer, Milad Mozari

Peter Speer is an artist based out of in Asheville, NC working within practices of sound-making and listening. Residencies include STEIM and the Chicago Parks Department, installations at the Pritzker Pavilion and the historic Black Mountain College campus, and his work with the transmission art quintet NRRF has been broadcast internationally.

He currently creates media for modular synthesizer manufacturer Make Noise.

Milad Mozari is an artist and researcher working in sonic investigations that draw connections to surfaces and social layers. His projects travel through concepts of music, language, and absence. Awards and residencies include Asian Cultural Council Grant to Individuals, Wave Farm, Pioneer Works, Incheon Art Platform, Taipei Artist Village, Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, MIT Open Documentary Lab, and Anthem Community Voice in Humanitarian Innovation.

He is currently an Assistant Professor at the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Utah and subject matter expert at International Rescue Committee’s Headquarters.
