‘Āina Based Technologies: Restoring the Ahupuaʻa and Building the Kinship Economy
This event will showcase how emerging technologies can be applied to revitalize the ahupua'a system and build a sustainable, equitable economy rooted in Aloha and kinship values. We will highlight four ‘Āina based technologies and innovations:
Exchange Avenue, an app inspired by the Ahupua’a — for shared abundance, barter & trade allowing people to exchange goods, services, time + knowledge.
IndigiDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) leveraging web 3 and open source software platform to create democratically governed financial cooperatives for Indigenous communities to establish economic sovereignty and a kinship economy.
The Climate Transition Agency (CTA) combines social and technical innovations to work towards restoration, repair and reciprocity for people and place.
Makaliʻi Metrics empowers ‘āina practitioners with cutting-edge, place-based analytical tools and data to enhance their impact, while demonstrating to policymakers and funders the measurable benefits of community-inclusive monitoring systems in addressing climate change and food system resilience.
