About Event

β€‹πŸ“… Please note: natIgnite 2025 registration has been extended to July 31st, 2025.

​natIgnite 2025 is a 40-hour in-person competition where teams of students and recent grads collaborate with Problem Providers to tackle real-world challenges in aging and caregiving.

β€‹πŸ§  What You’ll Do

  • ​Get matched with a team with students and recent grads from tech, design, business, and health backgrounds

  • ​Work on a real challenge pitched by your Problem Provider

  • ​Complete three short progress check-ins before Hackathon Weekend

  • ​Build a working prototype using provided hardware and software

  • ​Get support through mentorship, workshops, and workspace access

​Students and recent grads from all backgrounds and levels. No technical experience required!

β€‹πŸ“… Event Schedule

  • ​Skill-Up Saturday (August 2): Get oriented, meet other participants, and learn key tools and skills

  • ​Pitch Day (August 3): Problem Providers pitch real-world challenges and teams form based on interest

  • ​Development Phase (August 3–7): Teams work with their Problem Providers to plan and begin development

  • ​Hackathon Weekend (August 8–10): Build your solution, test it, and pitch it to a panel of judges for feedback and funding

β€‹πŸ† Prizes and Post-Event Support

​A combined total of $10,000 in seed funding and in-kind support is available for the 3 winning teams.

β€‹πŸ’Έ Hacker Fee

​To confirm your spot at natIgnite 2025, there is a partially refundable $50 fee which is only charged upon acceptance.

  • ​$25 covers your meals, materials, workspace, and other event costs.

  • ​$25 is a refundable deposit returned to you after you participate fully (i.e., attend the pre-hackathon weekend, complete 3 short development reports with your team, and participate in the hackathon). This helps us make sure everyone who signs up is truly committed and contributes meaningfully to their team.

​What's included with your fee:

  • ​9 full meals during the event

  • ​Snacks and coffee throughout

  • ​Access to hacking space

  • ​NAT merchandise

​We want natIgnite to be accessible to everyone. A limited number of subsidies are available to waive the non-refundable $25 portion for participants with financial need. Please note:

  • ​Requesting a subsidy does not guarantee approval

  • ​You may be asked to provide documentation of low income

  • ​All applications are reviewed individually, and decisions will be shared promptly

β€‹πŸ“ How to Apply

  1. ​Register by July 31, 2025
    Choose your role (Hacker, Volunteer, Advisor, or Problem Provider) and complete the appropriate form using our participant portal.

  2. ​Complete Your Luma Registration
    Once your form is submitted, finalize your registration and enter payment details using this Luma page. Fees are only charged upon acceptance.

  3. ​Watch for Confirmation!
    Once accepted, you'll receive a confirmation email with key information and instructions.
