About Event

Shakespeare is being kidnapped to the East End, and Segundo Barrio might not give him back.

On what might be Shakespeare's, Cervantes, and Nuestra Palabra's birthday, NP is thrilled to welcome the editors, contributors, and stars of the The Bard in The Borderlands Vol. 2. You will get to meet editors Kathryn Vomero Santos, Ph.D., Co-Founder of the Borderlands Shakespeare Colectiva, Katherine Gillen, Ph.D., Co-Founder of the Borderlands Shakespeare Colectiva, and contributor Bernardo Mazón Daher, Playwright and Director.

This book consists of Mexican American, Chicana, Chicano, and Latino updates, revivals, interpretations, and upgrades of Shakespeare's work, but set in our backyard, barrios, and casas.

Professor Tony Diaz, El LIbrotraficante, Dir. of NP, will emcee the event.

They are also joined by playwrights, Bernardo Mazón Daher from San Diego,  and BSC Postbaccalaureate Fellow, and Paloma Díaz-Minshew, who's been researching and writing about his bilingual adaptation of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure.

Admission is free. The book will be on sale for the editors to sign at the event. Every book purchase supports writers and publishers from the community and helps Nuestra Palabra to keep giving back.
