Have you ever wondered how a market can thrive with no trust between buyers and sellers, and without any state infrastructure to resolve disputes? Darknet markets adress this question for years, offering everything from drugs to weapons to everyday goods (mostly drugs, though).

In this talk, I will discuss what darknet markets are, how they’ve evolved, and what sets them apart from platforms like Amazon. Then we will look at a few live examples to see them in action.

Afterwards, we’ll open up the floor for a discussion on whether there should be limits to what can be done online and how such markets could be useful in network states.
