Once Upon A Time: From Eco Anxiety to Climate Inspiration

Our stories shape us and mold us into who we are. Stories peek our imagination, connect us with our cultures, our history and the land around us. Magical creatures and fantastical characters have always been used to help people understand how a place came to be, and to help cultures sketch narratives that tie their history, their values and their future together.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the climate crisis? Do you long for a sense of hope and connection to nature? Join us for a unique workshop that uses the power of fairytales to help you navigate climate anxiety, sketch new narratives and find inspiration.

In this interactive workshop, we will explore how fairytales from diverse cultures and lands can provide us with wisdom and guidance for our current times. We will read and analyze fairytales, identify the archetypal elements that make them so enduring, and then use those elements to create our own climate-inspired fairytales.

Through this process, we will explore our relationship with nature, identify our sources of hope, and envision a future that is both sustainable and just. We will also learn how to use fairytales as a tool for education, advocacy, and community-building.

No prior experience with fairytales or writing is necessary. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to explore your creativity.

This virtual workshop is for anyone who is concerned about the climate crisis and is looking for ways to cope with climate anxiety, find hope, and take action.

Benefits of attending this workshop:

  • Learn how to use fairytales as a tool for coping with climate anxiety

  • Gain a deeper understanding of your relationship with nature

  • Identify sources of hope and create compelling hopeful stories that are connected with your own cultural heritage.

  • Develop your creativity and writing skills

  • Connect with a community of like-minded people
