In this edition of Warp & Weft, we’re passing notes in class through our woven wall hangings!
As in other Warp & Weft’s, you’ll learn the basics of how texture and color uniquely work when weaving, but there’s also an opportunity to hide messages between its threads. Woven tapestries have encoded secret meanings and messages throughout history and we’ll follow in the tradition by anonymously submitting wishes for a fellow classmate and/or secrets you’d like to let go of. After getting acquainted with the looms while setting them up, we'll weave in these secret notes along with yarn, fabric, and paper! You’ll be guided through weaving techniques as you ritualistically embed your encoded message into a beautiful wall hanging with a story.
Weaving is a repetitive process that can feel like casting a spell. Arrive at this workshop with a wish, a personal mantra, a hidden joke, or a message and let’s cast the spell together.
IMPORTANT NOTES: All tickets are final sale. We are a shoes-off, socks-required space; please bring your own socks or we have some for purchase for $1. Our events are geared towards connection through creativity; for many, you will be sitting around shared tables. Unfortunately, during ticketed events, we are unable to accommodate any children/babies under 5 years of age. Dogs are also not permitted at events. Upon entering our space you are consenting to photography/videography that may be used for promotional purposes.
